Five years ago, I didnโ€™t know how to post on social media, what to post, and how to get engagementโ€ฆlet alone grow an audience. I knew the strategy behind social media and how important it was for a business because I consulted with hundreds of business owners on what they should post but I never had to do it day to day. That is, until I was hired primarily to do just that. I knew I could do itโ€ฆI just needed a few tutorials to help me get a running start. I searched all over the internet and I couldnโ€™t find anything. A few internet marketers were selling memberships that were selling everything internet. I just wanted to know the best way to grow our audience. Nothing was out there. At that point, I knew I had to do it myself.

I dove in feet first developed my three-tier strategy.

I told myself that when I was ready that I would offer a course that eliminated all the frustration I was faced with when I first started my social media management journey. Since that time, Iโ€™ve grown my companyโ€™s audience 75%. We have built a community that is engaged and have helped us grow. They are passionate, they post comments and share our post. They raise money for us, close to $200k in five years and they helped me bring our state a personalized license plate. My campaigns and strategies have won me six Golden Spike Awards including the best of show, given to the best campaign in the state.

I will teach you what Iโ€™ve learned, every step I took, to get me to where I am now. I offer two courses. One is live and one is taped. The live version is a 6-week course with only five

individuals at a time. Anything bigger and the effectiveness will suffer. By being a small groupโ€ฆI will be able to give each person personalized attention, and everyone will be able to learn from each other. It does not matter what type of business you are in. The fundamental tools will be there for you to take into your social media management strategy.

The second course will be a set of video tutorials that you will watch at your convenience. It is less expensive than the live course because it wonโ€™t offer the personalized attention from me. You will still get the same content, but you wonโ€™t be able to ask me specific questions on how you can take the concepts and implement them into your business.

One thing I love to do is teach. I love to talk about what Iโ€™ve learned over my career and teach others what worked for me and more importantly what not to do. The best way to do that is by telling stories. Iโ€™ve been a storyteller my entire career, mostly through the lens of a video camera though now I do it in classrooms, conferences and meetings. I get asked to speak about my career path, what I have done to get to where I am and primarily my award-winning marketing strategies.

I bring in stories from my life that have shaped my career. Some are inspirational and some are funny. Actually, they are always funny. I love to laugh at myself and I donโ€™t take things seriously. Iโ€™ve failed many times in my career and I will fail many more times in the future but the more I fail, the more I succeed so Iโ€™m not afraid of failure. I expect it. I look forward to it because each time I fail, I come back better.

Take speaking as an example. Getting up in front of a group of people doesnโ€™t came naturally to me. In fact, I was scared to death every time I had to do it in class as a young boy. I never thought I would be able to do it until I started watching my wife get up and speak to crowds of hundreds at conferences. We had a client who taught people to be better speakers and the little voice in my head thoughtโ€ฆmaybe I could do it. If I had to.

Guess whatโ€ฆI had to one day. I won the best in show award and I had to get up and deliver a short speech on my winning entry. It wasnโ€™t bad. It was okay. I then did it again a few more times and guess whatโ€ฆthey got better. Now, I donโ€™t event think about it. I knew that if I ever wanted to get to where I want to be in my career, I had to do hard things. Speaking and giving presentations to a group of people (large or small) was something that I had to do. Iโ€™m doing it now.
